Yovakor was a Class M planet in Klingon space, near the Federation border and Romulan Neutral Zone. Considered by the Klingon Empire to be a "backwater" world, it was home to an agricultural colony, and was a location for trade in the border region.
The climate was hot and considered ideal for farming, with red soil and large jungles. Though the population was mainly Klingon, many other species resided or visited there, and members of the Orion Syndicate frequently visited the planet for illicit business.
Domaq City was a settlement on the planet. Larkor, a farmer, lived there with his wife, who owned a bar, where Zazrit sometimes came for information.
In the early 2370s, certain disaffected members of the population formed a "militia", as a "second chance" at gaining glory by asserting Klingon dominance over the outworlders, in hopes that these actions would earn them notice by the Klingon Defense Force. They were based approximately 70 kilometers north of Domaq in an old bunker built into a rocky mound in one of the planet's jungles; the area surrounding the bunker was secured with a photon minefield. Despite being focused on "Klingon purity," the militia was secretly backed by the Orion Capo Malgog of the Orion Syndicate.
In mid-2372, Zazrit and an away team from the USS Sally Ride clandestinely visited Yovakor as part of their search for Malgog and the captive Lind Xadas. (Shield of Tomorrow: "Out of Bounds, Part 2")
