Vulcanoid is the term assigned to the subset of humanoid species which showed physical attributes or physiological similarities to Vulcans (homo eridanus), many of which are found in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

Upon discovery of the Arretians in 2268, Commander Spock theorized they may be a progenitor species for Vulcans and other Vulcanoids. This was later seen as the origin of the tales about the Vhorani (or "Ancient Ones") and Vorta Vor, a commonly-shared myth among several Vulcanoid species.

Vulcanoid species[]

The above list shows lines of likely descent from the Arretians, however certain species like the Mintakans and Halanans could instead represent an independent evolution, not directly descended from the Arretians, but from even more ancient progenitors.

Most of the Vulcan-descended races are the result of the Romulan diaspora that followed the Sundering. While the majority eventually founded Romulus, not all the ships that left Vulcan made it there. Some settled on other worlds along the way and founded their own societies, such as the Debrune (who were considered "proto-Romulan"), K'tralli and others. They are therefore more properly considered Vulcan offshoots, or cousin cultures to the Romulans, rather than Romulan descendants themselves. In contrast, the Chalchaj'qmey are a true Romulan offshoot, resulting from genetic manipulation and selective breeding between Romulans and Klingons.
