The Vo'Quv class (and its VoDleH-class variant) was a type of starship in service of the Klingon Defense Force in the early 25th century. The largest ship built by the Klingon Empire at the time, it served as both a dreadnought and a carrier or troop transport. (Star Trek Online)

During the Klingon-Gorn War, the KDF grew to need larger, more powerful ships than even the Negh'Var-class and Voodieh-class heavy battlecruisers already in service. The result was a proposal for a massive supercarrier dreadnought, capable of leading fleets and launching planetary invasions.

Constructed by the shipyards at Ty'Gokor, the prototype IKS Vo'Quv entered service by 2403, when Chancellor J'mpok used it his flagship during the surrender of the Gorn Hegemony. The class was in full production by 2407, along with a variant design, the VoD'leh-class carrier.

By the 2410s, several of these vessels were assigned to Task Force Omega, while others would join the Dyson Joint Command.

Specifications and technology[]

At the time of its launch, the Vo'Quv class was the largest, most powerful vessel ever constructed by the Klingon Defense Force. It was designed to lead fleets and large formations, with increased engine efficiency allowing it to travel greater distances before requiring maintenance. Two of its many cargo bays could be converted to repair bays for escorts and support craft. Vo'Quv dreadnoughts also carried subspace countermeasures design to scramble enemy sensors.

With the extra space afforded them, these vessels were able to carry more ammeneties and "luxuries" for the crew unavailable on smaller, standard vessels. These included holodecks (officially intended for training), and stasis chambers to keep live food fresh over the course of extended missions and campaigns.

Because of its immense size, the Vo'Quv class had limited maneuverability, and as such, was designed to engage an enemy force from any and all angles. It was equipped with disruptor arrays, including some with a 360' arc, as well as disruptor cannons, turrets and heavy torpedoes. Combat-oriented tractor and repulsor beams were also standard aboard these dreadnoughts.

As carriers, they were assigned squadrons of To'Duj-class fighters, and each dreadnought could carry up two four B'rel-class birds of prey. Unlike most Klingon vessels, however, the VoQuv class was not typically equipped with cloaking devices, as it was deemed the power consumption cost would be too great. Some, however, would be equipped with cloaks for special assignments.

Some ships of this class were outfitted as so-called "science carriers," equipped for long-range scientific missions, a rarity among the KDF. The IKS MhaQ'Beth was one such vessel, under the command of Brigadier Uth'ryc, attached to the Alliance Central Command.
