Starbase 24 was a Federation starbase in the Hromi sector of the Beta Quadrant, near the UFP's border with the Klingon Empire. It was a Sierra-class space station. During the Federation-Klingon War in 2257, the base was occupied by the Klingons. After the war, during the 2260s a Federation Border Patrol task force was based out of the starbase. (DSC: "The War Without, The War Within"; TOS novel: The Captain's Oath)
In 2287, the starbase was commanded by Admiral Thomas Galloway. That year, the USS Enterprise-A visited Starbase 24 for repairs following a battle with the IKS Okrona at Chronian III. (TOS comic: "Repercussions")
In the mid-24th century, it was the closest Federation facility to Khitomer. The USS Intrepid transported the survivors of the Khitomer Massacre to Starbase 24 in 2346. (TNG: "Sins of the Father", "Redemption")
In the 2380s, a journey from the Sol system to Starbase 24 took 1 month, 16 days and 17 hours at warp 7. A journey from Starbase 24 to Starbase 364 near the Shackleton Expanse would take 1 month, 11 days, and 4 hours at the same speed. (Clear Skies: "The Stowaway", "SB-24").
