Starbase 234's location in the H'atoria sector
Starbase 234 was a Federation space station in the 24th century. Located in the H'atoria sector, near the Triangle region and the borders of the Federation, Klingon Empire and Romulan Star Empire. It was the closest Federation starbase to the Azure Nebula.
In 2367, after the Battle of Wolf 359, Starbase 234 became the center of anti-Borg technological research, under the direction of Commander Elizabeth Shelby. (TNG novel: The Return)
In early 2368, Starbase 234 was a critical staging area for Starfleet's response to the Klingon Civil War. At that time, the station was under the command of Fleet Admiral Taela Shanthi. (TNG: "Reunion, II")
Several months later the station's commander was Admiral Ruah Brackett. (TNG: "Unification I")
Admiral Owen Paris assumed command of Starbase 234 in late 2380. (Star Trek: Destiny novel: Gods of Night)
