Starbase 22 was a Federation starbase active during the 23rd century. It was destroyed by a suicide attack during the Federation-Klingon War in 2257. (DSC: "The War Without, The War Within")
The facility was rebuilt after the war, and served as a base for Starfleet Inteligence's efforts to monitor the Federation's border with the Klingon Empire. (FASA: The Federation Sourcebook, Star Fleet Intelligence Manual)
In 2273, the USS Enterprise made Starbase 22 her first stop following the V'ger incident. (TOS novel: Ex Machina)
Southern Skies Starlines' Westlines Division was based out of Starbase 22; the company was actually a front for Starfleet Intelligence. (FASA: Star Fleet Intelligence Manual)
During the early 2280s, Georgi Ilanenko was the base's executive officer, until his promotion to command of Starbase 23 in 2285. (FASA: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
