Ensign Sito Jaxa, 2370
Sito Jaxa was a female Bajoran who served as a Starfleet officer during the late 24th century. (TNG: "Lower Decks")
Sito was born in the village of Ikreimi, in Dahkur Province on Bajor in the year 2347. Her father was Sito Keral, the cousin of Dr. Mora Pol. (TLE novel: Dawn of the Eagles; Star Trek: Starship Creator)
Having left Bajor during the Cardassian Occupation, Sito entered Starfleet Academy around 2365; in 2368, she was in her third year when she was involved in the Nova Squadron incident. As punishment, she and her squadmates were forced to repeat the year. (TNG: "The First Duty")
Sito graduated as an ensign in late 2369, and was assigned to the USS Enterprise (unbeknownst to her, at the request of Captain Picard). She served in the security department under Lieutenant Worf. Aboard the Enterprise, she formed friendships with fellow junior officers Sam Lavelle, Taurik, and Alyssa Ogawa, along with Ben, a civilian waiter in Ten-Foward. She also grew to consider Worf a friend.
On stardate 47566.7 (26 July 2370), seven months after her assignment to the Enterprise, Sito volunteered for a covert mission to return Joret Dal, a Cardassian dissident across the border to Cardassian territory, posing as a Bajoran slave he had captured. Unfortunately, the mission went badly and after missing her rendezvous, Sito was presumed killed in action when the Enterprise intercepted a Cardassian report stating a Bajoran prisoner had been killed while attempting escape. Unknown to Starfleet at the time, Sito had in fact been captured by the Cardassian military. (Star Trek: Starship Creator)
- Sito's fate has been expanded on through fan fiction in many different ways, and it remains to be seen what form that takes in Pendragon continuity.
