Sherman's Planet (or SermanyuQ to in Klingonese) was a Class M world near the Federation-Klingon border in the mid-23rd century, also proximate to the Gorn Hegemony. The planet was first discovered by Sir John Burke, a British astronomer. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles"; TLE novel: Excelsior: Forged in Fire; Klingon for the Galactic Traveler)
Under the terms of the Organian Peace Treaty, the world would be ceded to whichever government was able to best develop the planet. In 2267, the Federation introduced quadrotriticale to the planet, tipping the balance in their favor (despite Klingon attempts to poison the grain). (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")
Within a few years, the grape was proven highly-adaptable to the planetary environment, and cross-bred with various native flora; this led to the cultivation of new, unique varieties of wines. (SCE novel: Oaths)
Following increased tensions with the Gorn, Starfleet established a military base on the planet, with extensive underground facilities. (TOS game: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy)
After the Khitomer Accords, a number of Klingons, including a group of QuchHa', settled on Sherman's Planet, living alongside the Federation colonists. By the 2380s, the planet's population numbered approximately 98 million. (Star Trek: Star Charts; INT: "Duty of Care")
