The Scorpius-Centaurus Association was a large region of space in the Milky Way galaxy, some 400 to 600 light-years from Sol. Antares was one of the most prominent stars in the association. The area beyond Antares was known as the Scorpius Reach, and had not been explored by the Federation until the late 2350s. (TLE novel: The Buried Age)
The red giant Ganidra was located in the Scorpius-Centaurus Association, until it went supernova some 10,000 years prior to 23rd century. The Fabrini civilization constructed their worldship Yonada to escape the destruction of their home system, and set out on a thirty-two light-year journey to the Daran system. (TOS novel: Ex Machina)
During the 2260s, the USS Intrepid conducted a survey of the Sco-Cen region and discovered a number of cozmozoan species, as well as a Fabrini probe in 2264. (TTN novel: Orion's Hounds; TOS novel: Ex Machina)
