The Sakethans were a Vulcanoid species, an early offshoot of the Vulcans themselves. They were descended from a group of dissidents who left their homeworld before the Time of Awakening, and established colonies on several planets, including Calder II and New T'Karath. By the 24th century, little remained of their culture except ruins and the impressive burial mounds they left behind, containing both their interred dead and many priceless artifacts.
During their exodus from Vulcan, the proto-Romulans visited Calder II and made contact with the Sakethans, intermingling the bloodlines of both groups. Over time, the Sakethans also encountered the Debrune, another group of proto-Romulans who had settled on Barradas III. Many Debrune artifacts would be discovered on Sakethan worlds, indicating significant contact between the two cultures.
