Star Trek: Pendragon Wiki
Robert Kirk

Ensign Kirk, circa 2270

Robert Samuel Kirk was a human male who lived during the 23rd century. He was the eldest son of George and Aurelan Kirk, the brother of Peter and Andrew, and the nephew of James T. Kirk. (Star Trek: Pendragon)

Robert was born in 2247. His parents were research scientists, and Robert spent most of his childhood traveling with them from assignment to assignment, growing up on a variety of colony worlds.

At the age of 18, he entered Starfleet Academy in 2265, shortly before his parents moved to Deneva with his younger brother, Peter. George and Aurelan were killed in 2267 when neural parasites infested the colony. Peter, however, survived, and returned to Earth to join Andrew, who had been living with their grandmother in Iowa.

Kirk and Freeman

Kirk and Freeman aboard the Enterprise

While at the Academy, Robert fell in love with fellow cadet Alex Freeman. Robert graduated in 2269, and requested an assignment to the USS Enterprise, not because his uncle was the commanding officer, but because Lieutenant Freeman was posted there as a medical technician.

Aboard the Enterprise, Robert shared quarters with Lieutenant Xon. After a while aboard, Robert asked Alex to marry him, and Alex finally accepted. Unfortunately, Alex was killed shortly thereafter during a mission to the USS Copernicus. Some time later, Robert accepted the flag for Alex at a memorial service for fallen Enteprise crewmembers on Starbase 4. (Star Trek: Phase II: "Blood and Fire", "Boldly Going")

Appendices[]

Notes[]

  • In the Star Trek: Phase II fan film episode "Blood and Fire," this character was called Peter Kirk. However, "Blood and Fire" was set approximately two or three years after "Operation -- Annihilate!", during which time Peter was far too young to have attended, much less graduated the Academy. So Pendragon continuity, wanting to preserve the story, has retconned this to be his older brother, established in TOS, but unnamed.
  • Robert's first name is a tip of the hat to the actor who played Ensign Kirk in "Blood and Fire," Bobby Rice, and to Captain Robert T. April, best friend of his grandfather, and "uncle" to his father.
