Star Trek: Pendragon Wiki

Ro Nevin was a Bajoran male who lived in the late 24th century. He was a Starfleet science officer, and eventually became Captain of the USS Odyssey. (Star Trek: Hidden Frontier; Star Trek: Odyssey)

He was born on Bajor in 2354 during the later years of the Cardassian Occupation. He was orphaned in the Kendra Valley massacre, when he was about three years old. He was later found in Yarlin, some distance from Kendra Valley, by Ro Talia who took adopted him as her son, naming him after her father, Nevin. They were assisted in this by a Vedek at the local monastery, Winn Adami.

The following day, they were rounded up with other homeless Bajorans and relocated to a labor camp in Kendra Province, where Talia's brother-in-law, Vedek Ro Dakhurven ministered to the laborers. They spent six years in the camp before Gul Dukat ordered the prisoners released as a "gesture of friendship" to the Bajorans, circa 2363. Fearing Dukat's reprisal after his "gesture" was rewarded with an assassination attempt, Dakhurven smuggled Talia and Nevin off Bajor to one of the refugee camps on Valo II, where they learned that Talia's daughter, Ro Laren had lived until she left to join Starfleet. Talia died several months later, in 2364, suffering the effects of long-term exposure to uridium ore. After his mother's death, Nevin was looked after by Keeve Falor, though he mostly raised himself.

Ro met his adoptive sister several years later, in 2368, when the USS Enterprise came to Valo II to investigate acts of terrorism supposedly perpetrated against Starfleet by the Bajoran resistance. Nevin kept in contact with his sister during her service aboard the Enterprise, and her time at Advanced Tactical Training, but ceased communication with her when she defected to the Maquis. He entered Starfleet Academy in 2373, shortly before the Dominion War. Among his classmates were Corey Aster, Andrew Barrett, Jenna McFarland and Brad Rawlins. Ro graduated in 2377, and was assigned as a science officer on Deep Space 12 in the Briar Patch, serving detached duty aboard a variety of starships based at the station. (Star Trek: Hidden Frontier)

By 2384, he held the rank of lieutenant commander. In January of that year, he married Corey Aster on Ba'ku. (ODY: "Its Hour Come Round At Last")

Shortly afterwards, Ro was temporarily assigned as chief science officer aboard the USS Odyssey for a mission to the Andromeda Galaxy using quantum slipstream drive to stop the Archein invasion of the Beta Quadrant. While Odyssey succeeded in destroying the Archein wormhole generator, their slipstream drive was also rendered inoperable, stranding them in Andromeda, two-and-a-half million light-years from home. With the captain and first officer dead, Ro was thrust into command of the Odyssey. (ODY: "Iliad")
