Regula 1, the first station of its type.
The Regula class was a type of small, modular space station used by the United Federation of Planets primarily for scientific research.
The first station of this type, Regula I was constructed in orbit of the planetoid Regula in the Mutara sector in the late 2270s. From the station, Drs. Carol and David Marcus and their team conducted their research on the Genesis Project. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
The same general design was later upscaled and reused as larger, more all-purpose starbases of the Invictus and Sigma classes, like Starbase 173 and Starbase 375. (TNG: "The Measure of a Man")
