Croden, a Rakhari male
The Rakhari were a humanoid species native to the Gamma Quadrant. Their homeworld was the planet Rakhar. (DS9: "Vortex")
Rakhari marriages were at least sometimes polygamous. They also had myths and legends about the Changelings, though most considered them make-believe.
By the 24th century, the Rakhari were warp-capable. An oppressive government was in power by the 2360s, and capital punishment was practiced.
When starships from the Alpha Quadrant began arriving through the Bajoran Wormhole, the Rakhari had no interest in contact with the newcomers, though they learned of them from their off-world trading partners. First Contact with the Federation came in 2369 when Commander Benjamin Sisko contacted Rakhar regarding one of their people, Croden, who had committed a murder aboard Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Vortex")
