The Quatellians were a humanoid species hailing from the planet Quatel in the Jubel sector. By the 24th century, they were a fully-integrated client species of the Romulan Star Empire.
Quatellians were broad, heavy people with somewhat masklike features due to the abundant fatty deposits under their skin which allowed them to survive in the cold climate of their icy homeworld. They were a peaceful, hardworking people with a strong desire to please. Their native dress was made up of animal fur parkas, pants and mittens, but most Quatellians adopted quasi-Romulan style clothing after their induction into the Empire.
With their integration as a Romulan client race, the Quatellians abandoned most aspects of their earlier, primitive culture in favor of Romulan values and ideas, save for a few minor cultural elements such as the use of decorative face-painting, a holdover from an ancient spiritual rite. The Quatellians credited the Romulans for raising their culture out of barbarism and giving them the opportunity to be productive members of a great empire.
