Pallas 14 was a star system in the Alpha Quadrant, at the extreme rimward edge of Fedeartion space more than 900 light years from Sol. It was a binary system consisting of two yellow dwarf stars, and three planets. The system's second planet, Mantilles, was Class M and home to the most remote colony in the Federation in the 2260s.
In 2269, the system's uninhabited outer planet, Alondra was consumed by an extragalactic "cosmic cloud" creature, which was unaware of the "tiny" beings in its path. Commander Spock of the USS Enterprise was able to telepathically communicate with the creature and convinced it to turn away before it consumed Mantilles. (TAS: "One of Our Planets Is Missing"; Star Trek Maps)
Prior to this, and for some time after, Starfleet Intelligence was concerned with Tholian activity in the area. (TOS novel: Allegiance in Exile)

- Pallas IV A and B
Background[]
- The episode states that Mantilles is located "at the edge of our galaxy," though how literally this is to be taken is open to interpretation.
- The 900 light year figure is conjecture, but as Beta VI was over 900 light years from Earth (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos"), and Mantilles is supposed to be the most remote colony in the Federation.
- It is likely that Pallas 14 lies rimward of Gateway, as TAS: "Yesteryear" immediately precedes "One of Our Planets Is Missing."
