Nog was a Ferengi male born on Ferenginar in 2353. He was the son of Rom, stepson of Leeta, grandson of Ishka, and nephew of Quark. He lived part of his teenage years aboard Deep Space 9, and became the first Ferengi to join Starfleet. He served aboard the USS Defiant during the Dominion War, and lost his leg in the battle of AR-558. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, et. al)
Nog remained in Starfleet for many years, and had numerous assignments. He served aboard the USS Challenger under Captain Geordi La Forge, and eventually rose to the rank of captain himself by 2395. (TNG novel: Indistinguishable from Magic; Star Trek Online: The Path to 2409; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: What We Left Behind)
History[]

Post-war[]
Following the end of the Dominion War, one of Captain Sisko's final acts was to promote Nog to full Lieutenant. After Chief Miles O'Brien left DS9 for his new post at Starfleet Academy, Lieutenant Nog succeeded him as the station's chief of operations. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One, et. al)
Nog continued to serve aboard DS9 until after the Bajoran Militia took over the bulk of station operations in 2385, in response to Bajor's termination of their application for Federation membership. (conjecture)
By the mid-2390s, he had been promoted to Captain. In 2395, he was in command of the USS Defiant, which was still assigned to Deep Space 9. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: What We Left Behind)
He inspired many young Ferengi, like Arog, to follow in his footsteps and join Starfleet. By 2409, he was commanding officer of the USS Chimera, and was not above using his position as the son of the Grand Nagus to get other Ferengi to help Starfleet if the situation called for it. (Star Trek Online: "Time in a Bottle", et. al)
Relationships[]
After the USS Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant, Nog met and became friends with Vorik. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Restoration")
