Miranda Kadohata was a female human 24th century Starfleet officer in the operations division. She served aboard both the USS Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E as an operations officer from the 2360s through the 2380s. (TNG novels: Q & A; Before Dishonor; Losing the Peace)
She was born on Cestus III, and spoke with a Port Shangri-La accent. She had at least one sister, Olwyn Kadohata. (TNG novel: Q & A)
Career[]
Kadohata graduated from Starfleet Academy circa 2360, and by 2363 she was assigned to the USS Firenze as a Lieutenant, junior grade.
In 2364, she transferred to the Galaxy-class USS Enterprise-D shortly before the ship's mission to Farpoint Station. She was assigned to the sensor room, where she worked under the ship's operations manager, Lieutenant Commander Data. Kadohata continued to serve aboard the Enterprise until its destruction at Veridian III in 2371.
She was among the crew who were assigned to the vessel's Sovereign-class successor, the USS Enterprise-E, again as an operations officer under Commander Data. When Data was offered promotion to the post of first officer in 2379, he selected Kadohata to succeed him as ops manager and second officer. She accepted, but took maternity leave before returning to the Enterprise to assume her new duties in 2380, by which time Data had been killed in the Shinzon incident. (TNG novel: Q & A)
In the Destiny timeline, Kadohata left the Enterprise in 2381, serving on detached duty to the Federation Displaced Persons Agency to assist their efforts aiding refugees on Pacifica, which allowed her to remain in one location, relatively close to her family on Cestus III. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
Personal life[]
While aboard the Firenze, Kadohata was romantically involved with the ship's flight controller, Lieutenant Ricardo Torres. Torres transferred to the Enterprise with Kadohata in 2364, but their relationship ended shortly after the ship's maiden mission to Deneb IV, during which Torres was badly shaken by encounter with the semi-omnipotent being known as Q. A number of other shipboard relationships followed for Kadohata, but all were short and ended badly.
She met her eventual husband, Vicenzo Farrenga, at a baseball game on Cestus III between the Port Shangri-La Seagulls, for whom Kadohata's sister played shortstop, and the Palombo Sehlats, whose general manager was Farrenga's father. They had a daughter, Aoki Farrenga, in 2374, and a pair of twins, Colin and Sylvana, in 2379. (TNG novel: Q & A)
