Star Trek: Pendragon Wiki

The Maxia sector was a region of space in the Alpha Quadrant, part of the Maxia sector block. Named for the constellation of Maxia, the sector was near the edge of Federation territory from the 23rd through mid-24th centuries, not far from the Ferengi Alliance and the Ubarrak Primacy. (TNG novel: The Buried Age; STA novel: Gauntlet, Maker)

Starbase 32 was located in the Maxia sector. (TNG: "Violations" set decoration)

For two years in the early 2330s, a pirate known as the White Wolf raided numerous Federation cargo ships in the sector, and continually eluded capture by hiding among the many unusual features of the Beta Barritus system. The White Wolf was eventually stopped by Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Stargazer in 2333. (STA novel: Gauntlet)

Background[]

  • The Maxia Zeta star system is not located in the Maxia sector, but is presumably in an adjacent sector. However, at least the presumptive Maxia Alpha system is likely to be in the sector, lending it its name.
  • In Michael Jan Friedman's Star Trek: Stargazer novels, Starbase 32's area of operations was never referred to by name, but most of the stories were set in or near that "sector." The term "sector" as used in this context most likely refers to a group of sectors, part of a sector block. The Stargazer spent most of 2333 in that area, before being reassigned to a long-range deep space exploration mission.
  • The ship returned to the Maxia sector in 2353 to deliver Jack Crusher's body "home" to Starbase 32, and was again (or still) in the general area two years later when it was lost at Maxia Zeta.
