Star Trek: Pendragon Wiki

Leransilia sh'Talath, or Leran Talath as she preferred, was an Andorian shen who served in Starfleet during the latter half of the 24th century. She was Captain of the USS Hiroshima, and the USS Intrepid. (Star Trek: Intrepid)

History[]

Early years[]

Born on Andoria in 2339, the second of three children from her parents' bond group. She was bonded herself according to custom, but never grew close to her bondmates; eventually she came to resent them, as she believed her destiny lay elsewhere, and had no desire to participate in the shelthreth.

Eventually she realized she could no longer live a lie, and she left her life on Andoria behind. Labeled a pariah for abandoning her duties in the shelthreth, she was disowned by her family and bond group, and effectively exiled.

Starfleet career[]

In 2357, she entered Starfleet Academy. Graduating in 2361, she was assigned to Starbase 275 as a junior security officer. She quickly made a name for herself, and earned a promotion the following year. It was at that time she decided to drop the prefix from her surname, and started to just go by "Talath."

After two years at the starbase, Talath was assigned to the USS Nogura. After impressing her superior officers with her command potential, she was promoted to Lieutenant, and eventually became Chief of Security aboard the Nogura.

In 2266, Talath was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. She was offered the position of second officer aboard the USS Melbourne, but the vessel was destroyed at the Battle of Wolf 359 before she could take up the post. Instead, she joined the fleet reconstruction task force.

Promoted to Commander in 2369, Talath took an assignment as second officer aboard the USS Lexington. She became the vessel's first officer in two years later.

After the Battle of Sector 001 in late 2373, Talath was fast tracked to Captain, and reassigned to command of the freshly-refit Steamrunner-class USS Hiroshima.

Talath left the Hiroshima in 2381, taking on command of the USS Intrepid after the retirement of Captain Walter Emick. She did not get along well with her new first officer, Commander Daniel Hunter, and planned on replacing him following their mission to the Charybdis sector with the Chiron Colonial Convoy. (Star Trek: Intrepid)

Captain Talath was killed less than a year later when the old scout she was piloting to deliver supplies to Chiron IV malfunctioned. The Intrepid was forced to destroy it in order to prevent it crashing into the colony. (Star Trek: Intrepid: "Heavy Lies the Crown")

Personal life[]

Relationships[]

Talath did not gel with her first officer aboard the Intrepid, Commander Daniel Hunter. She thought him insubordinate and reckless; for his part, Hunter viewed Talath as a regulation-obsessed martinet. Though Hunter was unaware of it until after Talath's death, she had planned on replacing him as first officer following their mission in the Charybdis Sector.

Her closest friend and most trusted confidant in her final years was S'Ceris, whom she met during his defection from Romulus. Talath recommended his commission in Starfleet, and he followed her from Hiroshima to Intrepid. They found a great deal of common ground as exiles from each of their homeworlds. (Star Trek: Intrepid)

Talath was also a friend of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Picard initially held her death against Hunter, who had ordered the destruction of Talath's shuttle. (INT: "The Stone Unturned")
