Star Trek: Pendragon Wiki

Last Unicorn Games (LUG) was a game publisher which produced the Star Trek Role Playing Game from 1998 to 2000. The company was acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2000, and the Star Trek license moved to Decipher shortly thereafter, mirroring the frequently-changing licenses for Star Trek comics during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Writers for the game included Steve Long, Steve Kenson, and S. John Ross, among others.

Nearly twenty Star Trek RPG books were released during those years, along with a set of miniatures, focusing on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: The Original Series. Some elements from these books were later referenced by Pocket Books novels, and some (mostly regarding the Andorians) even made their way into canon in Star Trek: Enterprise's fourth season.

LUG had several more books in the pipeline when the licensed was lost, in various stages of completion. At least one was finished and ready to be printed. When WotC decided not to publish these books, the material reverted to the writers, some of whom published sections of their work online. As of 2021, most of this material can be located via the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

Decipher hired many of the former LUG writers, so the Decipher game, though it uses a different game system, is in many ways a continuation or "reboot" of the LUG material (with some differences).

Fan conversions from LUG's ICON system to Decipher's CODA system were commonplace, and many fan-created supplements can be found at Memory Icon.

Star Trek: Pendragon adapts elements from the LUG and Decipher games, among other Star Trek RPGs, for use in both Star Trek Adventures gameplay and in fiction. Some of these sourcebooks will have pages on this wiki, but more detailed information on all the titles can be found at Memory Alpha, Memory Beta and other sites.
