Kirayoshi "Yoshi" O'Brien was a human male born in the late 24th century. As a Starfleet officer in the early 25th century, he served at Memory Alpha, and then as Chief Engineer aboard the USS Enterprise-F. (Star Trek Online)
The child of Miles and Keiko O'Brien, Kirayoshi was born on Deep Space 9 in early 2373, birthed by surrogate Kira Nerys, whom he was named after. He had an older sister, Molly. For much of his early life, he was raised between Earth and DS9, and then on Cardassia Prime, when the O'Brien family relocated there after the Dominion War in 2376. He entered Starfleet Academy circa 2391, and graduated in 2395. By 2409, he held the rank of lieutenant, and was a member of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers detached to Memory Alpha.
Upon the launch of the USS Enterprise-F in 2410, he was reassigned as her chief engineer. In October of that year, while aboard Earth Spacedock, he referred Captain Geordi La Forge of the USS Challenger to another officer who could help with a mission to investigate the nexus. As chief engineer aboard the Enterprise, O'Brien was a key member of Starfleet's research efforts into the Dyson Sphere discovered in 2411. (Star Trek Online: "Sphere of Influence", "A Step Between Stars")
By 2413, he had been promoted to Lieutenant Commander. (Star Trek Online: "Utopia Planitia: One Big Ship")
