Jevalan was a Class M planet in the Doltiri system, within the territory of the Cardassian Union.
During the Occupation of Bajor, the Cardassians maintained a number of labor camps on the planet, including at Olanda. Many Bajorans were forced into slavery and sent to work in those camps.
When the Day of Withdrawal came in 2369, Cardassian soldiers began executing the the Bajoran slaves, rather than let them live to spread tales of the horrors they witnessed. Ishan Anjar was among those who died; his identity was assumed by Baras Rodirya, one of the collaborators who had been secretly in the employ of Gul Pavok.
After the Dominion War, the new Cardassian government partnered with Bajor to recover the remains of those Bajorans killed on Jevalan, and to uncover and document the truth of the atrocities committed there. Monuments were to be erected, and after the recovery was complete, the camps would be preserved as a memorial, open to visitors as a testament to the evil history of the place.
