J'Ula

Matriarch J'Ula of House Mo'Kai

Lady J'Ula was a 23rd century Klingon female, a daughter of the House of Girjah and the elder sister of T'Kuvma. She married into the House of Mo'Kai, and eventually became its' matriarch. When she used a mycelium-based "superweapon" during the Battle of Starbase One in 2257, J'Ula and her forces were temporally displaced, emerging in the early 25th century, circa 2414. (DSC comic: The Light of Kahless; Star Trek Online: Age of Discovery)

After a year in hiding, during which she refined her mycelial technology, J'Ula launched an attack against Andoria, but was driven back by Starfleet, the Khitomer Alliance and a Lukari research team. The battle damaged the mycelial network, and left a rift behind in local space, which took considerable effort to close. (Star Trek Online: "Beneath the Skin")

J'Ula and her Mo'Kai warriors were declared rebels and hunted by Starfleet and the KDF. She spent the next several months harvesting mycelium spores and exposing them to hargh'peng radiation, mutating them to fuel her weapon. During this period, she refitted her fleet in the Beta Lankal system, but her forces were eventually driven off. (Star Trek Online: "Ruins of Doom", "To Hell with Honor", et. al)

Early the following year, J'Ula managed to invoke an obscure Klingon law to reinstate House Mo'Kai, which allowed her to address the High Council and air her grievances. These included the destruction of the Mo'Kai at the hands of the House of B'vat, the dishonorable deeds of Chancellor J'mpok, and what she saw as the corruption of the Klingon Empire and her brother's dream. She thus rallied several of the Great Houses to her cause, and escaped during the ensuing skirmish in the Great Hall.

As more Imperial forces joined J'Ula's side, a new Klingon Civil War erupted. Engagements took place in the Ceron, Seedea and Terrh systems, among others. During a battle at Qu'Vat, J'Ula fired her superweapon intending to destroy the orbital shipyards, however her ally Aakar had actually targeted Qu'Vat City instead. The devastating loss of civilian life greatly troubled J'Ula, and she returned to hiding to regroup while Aakar led House Mo'Kai forces in a raid on Rura Penthe. (Star Trek Online: "The Centre Cannot Hold"; "Best Served Cold")

A week later, J'Ula was tracked to Khitomer, only to be betrayed by Aakar to effect his own escape. J'Ula explained to General Martok that the attack on Qu'Vat was Aakar's doing and that there was more going on than he knew. When J'mpok's fleet arrived in orbit, Aakar provided him with the mycelial weapon in exchange for his own safety. J'mpok attacked Khitomer with the weapon, attempting to kill J'Ula, but she, Martok and Adet'pa managed to rescue the survivors and escape. In the aftermath, J'mpok framed J'Ula for the crime, and decried Martok and his allies as traitors to the Empire. They were forced to go underground, allying themselves with House Mo'Kai, while trying to prove J'mpok's own treachery. (Star Trek Online: "The Khitomer Discord")

Months later, J'Ula met with Martok and Adet'pa in the Gorath system. They infiltrated the Imperial Security base there, to broadcast the evidence against J'mpok that would clear their names. Though successful in their mission, and in again besting J'mpok's fleet in battle, the revelations caused the Great Houses to lose trust in the Empire, abandoning the cause and returning to their own homes. In response, J'mpok dissolved the High Council and declared himself "Emperor." (Star Trek Online: "Partisans")

Seeking wisdom to restore the Empire, J'Ula, Martok and their allies traveled to Boreth. They consulted with the monk Tenavik, who arranged a series of trials for J'Ula in order to prove her worthy to receive the knowledge she sought. She faced the spirits of both Molor and Kahless the Unforgettable, receiving counsel from the latter. The trials were interrupted when Aakar's forces invaded Boreth, and J'Ula and Martok aided the monks in driving them off. Tenavik then took them to the monastery's Time Chamber, where J'Ula touched a time crystal and received a vision of possible futures. This led to the monks and Timekeepers seeking to resurrect Chancellor L'Rell through their cloning process, as they had done with Kahless decades earlier, while J'Ula and Martok engaged Aakar's fleet in orbit. The cloning was successful, though J'Ula's flagship, the IKS Lukara was lost, and it was discovered that L'Rell's soul was trapped in Gre'thor. (Star Trek Online: "Knowledge is Power")
