Hellaro Corva was a star system in the Venturius sector of the Beta Quadrant, within the borders of the Romulan Star Empire along the Federation frontier.
Once a binary system that supported at least seven planets, the secondary star collapsed into a black hole called the Eye of Corva some 200,000 years before the 24th century. The resultant cataclysm destroyed the inner five planets, and stripped the atmosphere away from the remaining outer worlds. The Eye orbited the system's primary at a distance of .74 AU, and caused a number of gravitational effects within the system; it also drew gasses from the primary, which created a plasma streamer effect, and the interaction of the gasses with the singularity's event horizon made the outer edges of the Eye visible to the naked eye.
Circa the 2320s, the Romulans established a space station in orbit of Hellaro Corva II (formerly the seventh planet before the binary's collapse), whose public mission was to monitor the black hole and study it for greater understanding of singularity mechanics and phenomena. The station's true purpose was to covertly research the Iconian ruins on the planet below. (LUG: The Way of D'era: The Romulan Star Empire)
