Bajoran system

A diagram of the Bajoran system, circa 2369

The Bajor system (aka B'hava'el) was a star system in the Bajor sector of the Alpha Quadrant. The system contained fourteen planets and the plasma field known as the Denorios Belt. The first known stable wormhole was discovered there in 2369, suddenly making the system a location of strategic importance and great interest to the major powers of region. (DS9: "Emissary"; DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)

The system's eighth and eleventh planets were Class M. Known simply as Bajor, the eleventh planet was the homeworld of the Bajoran civilization. (DS9: "Emissary", "The Nagus", "When It Rains...", et. al)

The system was located 5.25 light-years from the Cardassia system, and roughly thirty-thousand light years from the galactic core. It was 50.3 light-years from the inner perimeter of Federation space, and 62 light-years from the Sol system. (DS9: "When It Rains..."; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

By the 16th century CE, the Bajorans used solar-sail vessels to called lightships to explore the system at sublight speeds. Some of these ships encountered tachyon eddies in the Denorios Belt which propelled them faster-than-light, enabling them to distant locations like Cardassia Prime, over five light years away. (DS9: "Explorers")

During the Occupation of Bajor from 2328 to 2369, the system was part of territories held by the Cardassian Union. In that time, a number of outposts were established throughout the system on small planets and moons by the Bajoran Resistance. After the Withdrawal, they were maintained by the Federation with minimal maintenance and were supplemented with additional Starfleet equipment including subspace monitors, emergency beacons and supply caches. Stellar information[]

B'hava'el (or Bajor-B'hava'el) was the main sequence (type G2V or bright yellow dwarf) star of the Bajoran system, approximately 62 light-years away from Sol. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual; LUG: DS9 Narrator's Toolkit)

The light energy from B'hava'el was instrumental in the Bajorans' travel across the system, as their lightships, equipped with solar sails, used it. (DS9: "Explorers")

Prior to the Dominion War, the star was a target of the Founder who had replaced Doctor Julian Bashir. He constructed a weapon comprised of trilithium, tekasite, and protomatter. This weapon would have caused Bajor-B'hava'el to go supernova. The real Doctor Bashir - along with Worf and Elim Garak - escaped from Dominion captivity just in time to warn Deep Space 9 that a Changeling infiltrator was on board. Discovering the runabout Yukon speeding towards Bajor-B'hava'el with the changeling on board, the USS Defiant dragged the runabout away from the star before the weapon could be used. (DS9: "By Inferno's Light")
