Andorians were a humanoid species from Andor, the icy moon of a gas giant in the Andor system. Their planetary government was known as the Andorian Empire, and was one of the founding members of the United Federation of Planets in 2161. They had at least one subspecies, the Aenar. (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; ENT: "The Aenar", et. al)

Biology[]
Unlike most humanoids, Andorians had four biological sexes. Two (thaan and chan) were roughly "male", and two (zhen and shen) were roughly "female." Andorians generally accepted the use of these terms and he/she pronouns while dealing with non-quad-sexed species. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book Two)
Andorians were well-acclimated to colder climates, but were able to handle extremes of temperature better than either humans or Bajorans; they could function comfortably in human-standard environments. (Star Trek: Enterprise; LUG: The Andorians: Among the Clans)
History[]
The Andorian intelligence agency known as the Ahm Tal was founded in 1935, on the colony world of Cimera III. (LUG: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)
Culture[]
One Andorian saying was "many picks make a bigger dent in the ice." Another was that someone in a bad situation was "deep in the tunnels and down an antenna," analagous to the English phrase "up a creek without a paddle." (Shield of Tomorrow: "The Pull, Part 1"; "Becomes the Lion")
"Let your woes become your deadliest weapons" was another Andorian axiom, and one from Lor'Vela stated that "A man is no more than the sum of his memories, a culture no more than the sum of its history." (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy comic: "Renegades"; LUG: The Andorians: Among the Clans)
