• The USS Odyssey returns to the Milky Way. Shortly thereafter, the Archeins are defeated, surrendering at Deep Space 12. (ODY: "Tossed Upon the Shore")

Deaths

• While assisting the Fenris Rangers, Lieutenant Icheb is abducted by Bjayzl's organization. He is taken to Vergessen in the Hypatia system, where his Borg implants are stripped from him. • 12 June (stardate 63446.41): Chairman Rehaek of the Tal Shiar is killed when his home on Romulus explodes. (The Path to 2409)
• Crown Prince Slathis succeeds his father Xrathis as King of the Gorn Hegemony. One of King Slathis' first orders is to reinforce the Hegemony's border with the Klingon Empire, which leads to several skirmishes between the two powers. (STO: The Path to 2409)
• The Klingons respond by sending more of their own ships to the border, and a standoff begins. (STO: The Path to 2409)
• As a result of the political upheaval in the Romulan Star Empire, Sela is framed for the murder of Chairman Rehaek of the Tal Shiar, and sentenced to death. • 4 July (stardate 63504.74): The tense situation erupts into open conflict when the KDF fleet first bombards, then invades the Gorn colony of Gila IV. (STO: The Path to 2409)
• 6 July: After two days of bloody battle, the Klingons conquer Gila IV. (STO: The Path to 2409)
• Attempts by the Federation to find a peaceful solution are rebuffed, and analysts predict that a full-scale war is inevitable within as little time as four years. (STO: The Path to 2409)

August

• On Ferenginar, Grand Nagus Rom institutes a public school program, utilizing the revenue generated from his tax initiatives. Many Ferengi see "free education" as an attack on traditional values, and stage demonstrations, some of which become riots. In response, Rom starts fining each protestor ten strips of latinum for assembling without a permit; the charge for a permit to protest is set at one bar of latinum, and the proceeds are used to fund the new educational system. November

• 23 November (stardate 63894.06): The refit of the USS Enterprise-E is completed, and the ship launches with her new command staff. (STO: The Path to 2409)

December

• 23 December (stardate 63976.74): The United Federation of planets and the Cardassian Union sign a new treaty.
• At the behest of the Great Link, Odo meets with Lamat'Ukan, leader of the Alpha Jem'Hadar, offering them a place in the Dominion if they would return to the Gamma Quadrant with him. Lamat'Ukan rejects Odo as a false god, believing him to be too close to the solids to have the spirit of the Founders. The Alphas elect to remain in the Alpha Quadrant.
