The following events occurred in the year 2383 according to the Earth calendar and corresponds to the stardate period 60000 to 60999.
Events[]
- Riots break out in Ki Baratan and across Romulus due to food shortages and stringent rationing. The riots in the capital continue for two days until the Praetor orders military intervention. By the time the riots are quelled, more than 2,000 Romulans are dead, whether as a result of the riots themselves, or from the military response. (STO: The Path to 2409)
- By this year Cardassia Prime has seen noticeable progress in its recovery, thanks to Federation aid and efforts like the Andak Project. Reconstruction begins on Lakarian City. (STO: The Path to 2409)
- Around the same time, excavation of several archaeological sites on Cardassia Prime leads to the discovery of ancient Hebetian settlements and relics. The publication of these findings sparks a resurgence of interest in ancient culture and religion among the Cardassian people, and a surge in popularity of the Oralian Way. The rise of this spiritual lifestyle is opposed by the hardliners like True Way, who continue to call for a return to "traditional values" and military rule. (STO: The Path to 2409)
- The Federation and the Klingon Empire remain at odds over the Empire's annexation of Romulan worlds along their shared border. The Federation Council votes against officially censuring the Empire for this military aggression; however the mere fact of the vote taking place at all is enough to anger anti-Federation members of the Klingon High Council, who demand that Chancellor Martok expel Federation ambassadors from Klingon space. Martok refuses, and Councilor Qolka accuses him of being a "pet desperate for the approval of his Starfleet masters," challenging the Chancellor to a duel on the Council floor. Martok handily dispatches Qolka, and the challenge to his decisions ends, for the time being. (STO: The Path to 2409)
- 12-14 May (stardate 60359.87): After nearly three months travel, the USS Ross arrives back at Narendra Station, before departing again to come to the aid of the USS Johnson and averts a galactic-scale disaster at the particle fountain discovered the previous year. (Clear Skies: "Finale, Parts 1 - 3")
- September: After a brief refit, the USS Ross departs Earth Spacedock under the command of Captain EXEO. (Clear Skies: "Finale, Part 3")
- 25 November (stardate 60900.31): Two Romulan fleets, each led by Tomalak and Donatra, clash at Xanitla. Tomalak's forces are dealt a decisive blow, and insult is added to injury when Admiral Taris defects to Donatra's side. (STO: The Path to 2409)
