Following her return from Sha Ka Ree, the USS Enterprise-A undergoes repairs at Earth Spacedock. Afterwards, the Enterprise is dispatched to Starbase 42 to transport Ambassador Palmer to Chronian III. While en route to the starbase, the Enterprise responds to a distress call from a disabled transport, and runs afoul of the Salla of the Nasgul. (TOS comic: "The Return!", "The Sentence")
On the floor of the Federation Council, Ambassador Kamarag declares the Klingon Empire has put a bounty on the head of Captain James T. Kirk in retribution for the Genesis incident and other grievances. The bounty amounts to at least 10 million credits. (TOS comic: "The Return!")

Lieutenant J.G. M'yra is assigned as a science officer aboard the USS Enterprise-A upon the vessel's commissioning after the Cetacean Probe Crisis. TOS comic: "The Return!")
Following the Sybok incident, Lieutenant J.G Kathy Li and Ensign Fouton are assigned to the Enterprise-A as relief navigator and security officer, respectively. (TOS comic: "The Return!")
