The Romulan Nero and his crew escape captivity on Rura Penthe, reclaim their vessel Narada, and resume their quest for vengeance on Spock and the Federation. (Star Trek)
Nero launches an attack on Vulcan, destroying the Starfleet armada that is sent in response, and eventually triggering the planet's implosion through red matter. Out of a population of 6 billion, only some ten-thousand Vulcans escapee the planet's destruction. (Star Trek)
