The first wave of Starfleet's Loknar-class frigates are launched this year, entering service during the final months of the Four Years War. Primarily crewed by Andorians, they are nicknamed the "Blue Fleet." (FASA: Federation Ship Recognition Manual, The Four Years War)

The Second Battle of Axanar occurs. Thanks to the tactics of Fleet Captain Garth, commanding the USS Constitution, Starfleet halts the Klingon advance, losing only four ships while the entire KDF invasion fleet is destroyed. (DS9: "The Valiant"; Prelude to Axanar)

The Constitution-class USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) is launched from San Francisco Fleet Yards, Earth. Under the command of Captain Robert April, she embarks on a five-year mission of exploration. (TAS: "The Counter-Clock Incident", et. al)
After repairs, the Constitution also embarks on a five-year mission, under the command of Captain Garth. However, despite being the first of her class, and a long and distinguished career of her own, the Constitution will always be overshadowed by the accomplishments of her more famous sister ship.
